Economic Evaluation
This project aims to assess the cost-effectiveness of essential and advanced critical care within the context of COVID-19 in Kenya and Tanzania. The project will entail defining essential and advanced critical care, assessing health system capacity for this care, costing these interventions and assessing their cost-effectiveness. The project is in collaboration with the Center for Global Development/IDSI and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) and is funded by the Wellcome Trust.

This study will cost cataract surgeries in Kenya. In collaboration with the Fred Hollows foundation, the study will seek to develop unit costs for cataract services and use this evidence to engage the NHIF and MOH on developing better payment mechanisms for cataract services in Kenya.

This study will carry out a cost-effectiveness alongside the SEARCH trial, which aims to compare alternative supportive care and antibiotics for management of severe pneumonia among hospitalized children in Kenya. The study is funded by the MRC.

This is a BGMF funded project that aims to cost the delivery of tuberculosis services in the public sector in Kenya from a health system perspective. This is part of a larger study in collaboration with the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) and the University of Cape Town that will be conducted in 5 countries. The study is in collaboration with the National TB programme in Kenya and will examine both facility level and above facility programmatic costs of delivering TB services that will inform planning and priority setting for TB services. This work is funded by a Bill and Mellinda Gates Foundation (BGMF).
